Moving & Listed Buildings

Providing a seamless transition to your home

Expert removals, professional service

The older a building is, the more likely it is to be a listed building.  Listed buildings are buildings that hold a special architectural and historic interest and also bring it under the consideration of the planning system, so it can be protected for future generations.  Buildings that have been built before 1700 – and are still around now – are very likely to be listied buildings as long as they have survived in decent condition.  If the building you are moving into is less than 30 years old, they are not normally considered to be listed buildings but it may still be worth checking with local authorities to just to make sure and for peace of mind.  If you are moving into a property, there are careful considerations that should be made and our team at Sterling Sinclair Removals can help you through the process.  At Sterling Sinclair Removals, we have an abundance of experience in working with historic and listed buildings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and across the wider areas in Scotland.

There are a few ways to find out if a building is listed and we are happy to help you find out this information if required.  The National Heritage List for England (NHLE) contains details of all listed buildings in England that you can check out and search the list!

What Can I Do With My Listed Building?

Listed buildings still offer a lot of the benefits of a new property and can be enjoyed and used, just like any other building.  However, when it comes to making changes to listed buildings, consent is compulsory and you must seek out further advice.  All potential alterations to a listed building such as extensions and demolition must be first discussed with your local authorities.
